Where it started...

Initially born out of a conversation between a few like-minded Christian friends, Revolution was created to provide an environment of worship and prayer where Christians can meet together - but without some of the responsibilities and ‘business’ so often involved in Sunday meetings. Many of those involved in establishing Revolution are also involved in leadership in their own congregation and decided that there would be great benefit for them and others to be able to meet together and worship God in a different environment from their usual congregation - a place where they can just chill and enjoy God’s presence without the responsibility of Sunday mornings.

Scott Pettingale (The Community Church) and Leum Harris (Riverside Church) developed the idea from merely being a conversation and, along with others, made it happen, establishing the first Revolution evening in October 2008.

Scott says “we just want an opportunity for people of all ages to get together and worship God. It’s as simple as that. No agenda, just a chance to pray and meet with God”.

Using Revolution as an opportunity to involve many people from a number of churches, the first Revolution meeting involved 3 different worship bands leading half an hour of worship each, along with guided prayer times.

“The meetings are aimed at everyone who knows God” explains Leum. “We use multi-media resources as well as music and images, so the meetings appeal to youth but Revolution isn’t a youth event - it’s for everyone who wants to worship God”.

“At the moment, Revolution meetings have a strong emphasis on creative worship and prayer but the possibilities are endless and who knows where this could lead!?” adds Scott.

Revolution works alongside a number of congregations in Burton and has the support of church leaders from around Burton.
