October 31st 2009 : On Saturday night we focused on 2 specific areas:

Bride of Christ

2 Corinthians 11 v2: I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to Him.

We are all sons of God, brothers of Christ; this may seem a bit jarring to the ladies amongst us, but take heart, we are only sons and brothers in this life. All of us blokes here will be the bride of Christ for eternity!!!
This relationship is not sexual, it is intimate, the closest example that God could use to describe the relationship he desires to have with His church, is that of husband & wife.

What can we do to prepare ourselves for this role that is so eagerly anticipated by all in the heavenly realms?

Ephesians 5 vs. 25 – 27: Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Colossians 3 vs. 1 – 9: Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices.

• We need to examine ourselves and prepare ourselves.
• Pray for unity in the Town, we are the Bride of Christ.

Purity

As we commit ourselves to holiness, to living lives worthy of the bride, we will reap blessings.

Hosea 2 vs. 19 – 20: I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness & justice, in love & compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord.

Revelation 19 vs. 7 – 8: Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright & clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints)

• In response we took a wrist band to represent our commitment to unity across the town and also to take another step with God on our individual journeys.
